Go! St. Louis Half Marathon

In between current activities I am going back to add in things I missed during my blogging sabbatical. :) Many of you know that I set a goal about a year an a half ago to run in a 5K race. I did that last April with a couple of really good friends in OKC. I ran a couple more this past fall here in Kirkwood as well. They were a lot of fun, and I felt so good afterwards! Two and a half years ago and 65 lbs heavier, I could not have done it. I met a group of really sweet girls here at the Y in a bootcamp class. Most of them also participate in a running group too. We all decided to run the Go! St. Louis Half together. Some of them have done it before, but there were a couple of us first timers. We trained through the winter running long runs with the temps in the teens and with snow on the ground through the spring as the weather got warmer. I surprised myself each week I ran the longest I ever had, and it felt so good! The tears started flowing as I neared the finish...I never thought I could do something like this. It felt good to accomplish such a big goal that I set because there were times during training that I thought I would not be able to do it. I would like to do it again sometime in the future...not too soon though. I have taken a little break from running...it's too hot! :)

Before the race. Love the arch in the background!

The girls waiting on Mommy to come by. Emma had drawn a picture of me with my bib number and everything!

Love seeing T.R. and the girls along the route! I tear up every time!

I look like I am walking, but I'm not! :)

Goal accomplished! What a feeling!
