I can remember it like it was yesterday. T.R.'s sister, Kellie, and I driving down to College Station for me to go to summer school in May of '99. (Kellie was just going to keep me company for a week while my roommates where out of town.) We were talking about a girl she went to school with, Emmy Whitt, and how I loved that name! She told me her real name was Emma, and I loved that even more. I told her right then and there that if I had a little girl, I would name her Emma Catherine. T.R. and I weren't even engaged yet. I had no idea that we would be in the next hew months though!
T.R. and I were married and loved watching Friends. We wouldn't miss the last season! It did make me furious that Rachel named the baby she had with Ross on Friends's, Emma, because that was MY name...even though I wasn't even close to having babies yet! But, how could she???!
Fast forward to the year 2003. T.R. and I had been married 3 years a nd were going to have a baby...what a blessing! I couldn't believe it when we found out it was a girl, and I was so thrilled because I would have my Emma. :) The name, Emma, had rocketed to the #1 spot on the most poplular name for girls(probably due to Friend's), but I didn't care. I had had that name for too long to let it go now. My Mom and I would be in the baby furniture store, and I would hear them ask customers, "what are you naming your baby girl?" they would reply, "Emma." I would just brush it off. Who cares?!
March 20, 2004-Emma Catherine Lewis was born. She was beautiful (and still is!). She was the most beautiful Emma in the world. Now, my sweet Emma is 5 years old and in kindergarten. It is the first time that we have encountered multiple Emma's due to picking the #1 name in 2004 for baby girls. I think there are like 5 or 6 in her kindrgarten class here in St. Louis! But, ya know what? There is no Emma like my Emma Catherine. Noone will ever compare! She is #1 to us and we love her more than anything. Emma, you are so special!

soooo sweet!! emma is just precious... and just think- if i'd have had a girl, there would have been 2 anna kates!
She is the best Emma I know too. It's funny because I didn't know any Sophies when we chose her name. We thought we were being somewhat original. Now it is in the top 5 names. She doesn't have any in her class but her teacher has a baby named Sophie. You never know when you pick their name!
I think you knew that I had an Emma Katherine too. She is 12 now. I can't believe it is so popular now. I think she must have been a little ahead of the trend. We miss you guys, it looks like you are having a blast in St. Louis.
Your Emma is adorable, your whole family is adorable. :)
Emma you are number 1 in my book!
Love all the school pictures. I need to get Emmaline's school clothes! And love the bows as always.
