The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon

I remember exactly where I was 14 years ago when I heard about the Oklahoma City Bombing. I was a senior in high school and was coming back from an assembly where I had learned that I was FINALLY getting into the National Honors Society! I walked back into the yearbook room and the T.V. was on with the news about the bombing. I will never forget seeing all of the stories on the news. A doctor that T.R. works with now left the hospital that day and went down to assist in any way that he could. He ended up amputating a survivors arm right there on sight. There are so many stories from that day. Every year Oklahoma City has a marathon and all of the funds go to the memorial and the museum. It was really neat to be a part of it this year remembering that day and what happened. I ran the 5K (3 mile) leg of a relay with some girls from my church. I heard that there were 20,000 runners involved in some way, and the excitement was contagious. Contagious enough to spark my interest in a half-marathon! We will see....

Leaving the house at 4:35 in the morning. I don't know how T.R. does it! I took a good nap this afternoon and still feel so tired!

The girls were troopers! They got up at 4:45 to cheer Mommy on! It was so much fun to see their smiling faces as I ran by.

Before the race with the Running Buddies group. They are a group of ladies (mostly from my church).

I am in the lead! ha! :)

The exchange. I had no idea what to expect doing a relay...I thought I would have to carry a baton to exchange! Instead it is a timing chip that you velcro around your ankle. Now I know!

Finished! It was a good feeling!

Two of the relay team members about to run their leg.

My medal! Now I have two in my collection. :)
